Porcelaine
in Latvia

Elegant, graceful, and aristocratic – Porcelaine dogs are a breed like no other. Originally bred in France for hunting, these white beauties are not just a sight to behold, but are also renowned for their friendly and gentle nature. In the forest Porcelaines excel in agility and endurance, while at home they can lazily doze on a sofa for hours. Their intelligence and affectionate disposition ensure that they are not just pets, but cherished members of the family. Good with children, cats and other pets, easy to train – a good friend and a great companion for active families.

Why d’Ivande? Because our roots lie in Ivande. Just ten kilometers from the storybook town of Kuldīga rests the village of Ivande, where time itself seems unhurried.

Here, meadows and forests cradle nearly half the rare flora and fauna found in Latvia’s Red Book. Flour is still ground in a 19th-century watermill, through the manor’s alleys and quiet park, creaking wooden carts with spring wheels still roll. Farms open their doors to those who come with jars for fresh cow’s milk, while beehives hum beneath centuries-old linden trees.

It is a paradise of scents, tastes, and sensations – for people and for dogs alike.

D’Ivande will be the surname of our puppies, our next generation of porcelain dogs. In the language of the FCI, it is called an affix – a registered name carried at the end of every puppy’s name, a small echo of the place and spirit from which they came.

Our sisters

Nora and Naomi are two Porcelaine Hound sisters from the Nova Espera kennel in Poland, with FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) recognized pedigrees.

The sisters, though each shaped by her own character and subtle distinctions, are united in their excellence. Both embody the very essence of the Porcelaine – a harmony of elegance and balance. Beyond their beauty, they carry within them a rare gift: a deep, heartfelt bond with humans, sincere and unbreakable.

Our association

We are proud to be members of the Ventspils Animal Breeders’ Association (VDzAB) – not only a source of support and guidance, but also a circle of friends and like-minded enthusiasts. Our dogs are our joy, and within the association, that joy is shared in creative, meaningful, and lively ways.

One of the year’s highlights, alongside the renowned exhibitions in Ventspils’ Reņķa Garden, is the “Day with a Dog.”
Each May, at the Kurzeme Residence in Talsi, dogs and humans gather for a day of laughter, games, walks, and relaxation in nature.

VDzAB values quality over quantity, ensuring that every litter, puppy, and exhibition is held to the highest standard. Thanks to their dedication, many breeds – Briards, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Afghan Hounds, Hungarian Vizslas, Weimaraners, Samoyeds, and Pumi – have become known in Latvia. We hope that the Porcelaine hound will join the list.

The Ventspils Animal Breeders Association (VdzAB) is part of the Latvian Cynological Federation and the FCI system, the world’s largest and most respected cynological organization.”
